Warning: this contains quite a lot of ridiculous rainbow photos, and absolutely zero pictures of my art. Proceed with appropriate protective eyewear.
This week I took the train over to Aarhus (about an hour from Viborg by train) to meet with my supervisor for my final project (more on that in upcoming blog posts!). And when in Aarhus, one must ARoS.
ARoS, of course, being the very beautiful Aarhus art museum, lounging away at the heart of the city and ruling over all things colourful beneath its rainbow crown.
Of course, I also visited some of the exhibits (not forgetting to pay a visit to the Boy). But what truly set my little heart all aflutter was the rainbow. A round ring of coloured glass perched atop the museum. From outside it's gorgeous. From inside? World-altering.
Each section seems to convey a different mood and feeling. The simmering heat of the sun soaking through the glass in the yellow and orange sections sent us panting gratefully to the cool reprieve of the green section. The blue section was confusing: the colour says cool, yet the sun pouring in says "go back to green". Perception and experience and all shades of rainbow through which to look out on a world unfolding below. A beautiful space in which to contemplate colour.
