LA hike | Notebook (white)

15.00

This collection of three notebooks displays lino prints from my series Portraits of Place: Urban Biodiversity in Los Angeles. It is a celebration of the nature in and around LA - especially the beautiful and abundant foothills where one can go hiking. Carrying one of these notebooks with you is a reminder to find the pockets of nature in your own city, to take advantage of these momentary opportunities to dive into nature, and to celebrate the unique ways in which nature and city merge into one another in urban environments.

Possible uses for these notebooks:

  1. recording birds, squirrels, and other urban wildlife you see on your hike;

  2. drawing pictures of inspiring views, or writing a few words about what those views make you think of;

  3. pressing plant leaves between the pages;

  4. copying out inspiring quotes from books and everyday life;

  5. writing infinite to-do lists that will only be partially checked off; and

  6. everything else you could possibly want to put down in a handy pocket-sized notebook!

The notebooks are about the size of my hand (14x10cm or 5,5”x4”) and are made out of recycled paper, with a lovely brown craft-paper cover and cream-colored pages (30 sheets/60 pages). They are sewn at the spine. The lino prints have been printed onto paper from the Kiel farmer’s market. These notebooks are available as a set of three.
