Rainy woods | Notebook (white)

from 5.50

This collection of notebooks displays lino prints from my series Portraits of Place: Walking the Lake Superior Hiking Trail (in the rain). It is a celebration of the fact that sometimes the weather really does not behave when we go out for a hike - and that nature is beautiful, nonetheless. (That said, these notebooks are very much not going to be waterproof in storm conditions, so… bag them up if headed hiking in rainy weather!)

Possible uses for these notebooks:

  1. drawing all the plants and birds you see on your hike;

  2. writing down descriptions of just how beautiful all that nature is, or other exciting thoughts that have popped into your head;

  3. pressing plant leaves between the pages;

  4. planning out future hikes;

  5. copying out inspiring quotes from books and everyday life;

  6. everything else you could possibly want to put down in a handy pocket-sized notebook!

The notebooks are about the size of my hand (14x10cm or 5,5”x4”) and are made out of recycled paper, with a lovely brown craft-paper cover and cream-colored pages (30 sheets/60 pages). They are sewn at the spine. The lino prints are printed onto white paper from the Kiel farmer’s market. You can purchase them individually or as a set of all 3.
