About me

Hey there. I'm Holly McKelvey, a visual science communicator and illustrator. You'll find a blend of comics, illustrations, graphic recording, and book projects as you explore my portfolio—and you’ll see two themes emerge which shape my work: ecology and place.

A bit about me: I'm a scientist-turned-illustrator. My background was in geosciences and environmental sciences before shifting to visual communication and illustration. I’ve lived in Germany since 2015, though I hail from California originally—and have lived in Italy, Scotland, Costa Rica, France and Denmark in between.

During all those moves I've learned (and forgotten) some different languages, broken some different bones, gotten moderately better at cooking, and become a mother twice over—and I've begun to draw the world around me. I hope you enjoy exploring my site.
